Pocket Atlas of Normal CT Anatomy of the Head and Brain

The featured book is ‘Pocket Atlas of Normal CT Anatomy of the Head and Brain’ by Michelle and Timothy Smith. The book is aimed at neurologists, neurosurgeons, otolaryngologists and radiologists perhaps explaining the selection of images. Being particularly interested in the brain I looked through the first section on the ‘Brain and Calvarium’ which is further divided into brain and ‘skull base and calvarium’. This constitutes about a quarter of the book and while the images are clearly labelled, and we are informed of the direction in which the slices are progressing, there is an absence of a corresponding saggital section indicating the level of each coronal section. Additionally in some of the slices I found it difficult to make out the boundaries between tissues. Nevertheless this book will come in handy when looking at CT scan images of the brain. The remaining sections of the book are concerned with the orbit, temporal bone and nasal cavity and sinuses which would perhaps have more appeal to the groups above.
