Podcast Review: Interview with Laura Barkwell

Psych Talk 360 run a podcast series which feature interviews with psychologists and therapists. The 8th episode features an interview with Laura Barkwell, a social worker with training in several forms of psychotherapy including EMDR – Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing. Having undergone EMDR training myself I was interested to hear this episode. Barkwell starts by describing her experience with person-centred and cognitive behavioural therapy before discussing her trauma based EMDR work. The majority of the interview focuses on the techniques used in EMDR and for this reason I thought the podcast would be useful for those considering taking up EMDR. Barkwell also mentions at one point that EMDR was used by one of the teams in preparation for the last olympics demonstrating the many applications of this approach. At around 30 minutes this is a well produced podcast which would be of interest to those wanting to learn more about EMDR.
