Blogging About Magnetic Resonance Imaging

The ‘MRI blog‘ is by MRI technician Limpeter who wants to share his knowledge with others. The blog is hosted on blogspot and features a black background and dark grey central pane with articles. The site menu lies beneath the colourful title pane and there are chronological and category indices in the right pane.  Articles are dated, titled with author details, category tags and are also comment enabled. The first post is dated August 29th 2009 with Limpeter setting out a vision for the blog. I thought that the next few pages posts are quite clever as they operate as a kind of site index for articles. These same posts pages are cross-referenced within the site helping the reader to quickly find articles. These include a useful links post, tips and tricks and a download page. There are other articles with explanations or links to explanatory videos including this one on Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy, this one on MRI safety, Diffusion-weighted MR imaging, intraoperative MRI recording and a posts on the pitfalls of Diffusion Weighted MR imaging, and brain MRI planes. There are also posts with images on different conditions including Infectious Leptomeningitis, Dural Sinus thrombus and Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy. There are a number of miscellaneous posts including this one describing an episode in which a fireman attending to a fire in a medical building had his axe was pulled from his hand by the strong magnetic field. This post contains some links to useful videos about MRI for people without a medical background while this post features a number of interesting CT scan images which are well worth a look. There are various technological developments that are covered as in these posts on a digital broadband MR system increasing signal-to-noise ratio by up to 40% as well as this  freely available Fiatlux visualisation software. The authors passion for this field is evident and the interested reader will find a variety of useful educational material on this blog.
