Anna Freud #choosepsychiatry

Dr Anna Freud was along with Dr Melanie Klein the founder of child psychoanalysis. Anna Freud was the daughter of Sigmund Freud and responsible for the development of ego psychology. Her most recognised work is ‘The Ego and the Mechanisms of Defence’ first published in German in 1936. Anna Freud started the Hampstead Family Therapy Clinic in 1947 which has become the Anna Freud Centre and continues to provide children’s psychoanalytic services.  After her death she instructed that the family home was converted into the Freud museum.
